Register based cohort study of children referred for rectal biopsies for the diagnosis of Mb. Hirschsprung in Denmark between 1998-2018 compared with a matched group without biopsies.
Short summary
To perform a retrospective registry based epidemiological study on the national cohort of children who has a rectal biopsy performed in the diagnosis of HD, in the period 1998-2018.
Rationale
A negative biopsy means the child does not have HD. But the child probably still suffers from the symptoms that got them referred for biopsy. Information on the length of these symptoms, other diseases and the use of medicine could be of use to pediatricians and help parents.
Description of the cohort
All patients having a rectal biopsi in the diagnosis of Hirschsprungs disease in Denmark between 1998-2018.
