Every year 350 persons is diagnosed with oral cancer, the 5-year survival prognosis is approx. 40 % for men and 49 % for women. Department for Plastic Surgery, OUH yearly receives 70-80 of these patients. The treatment may be surgery, radiotherapy or a combination of both, reconstruction of the mouth may be necessary post surgery. So patients are often face with complex issues and a very extensive treatment. Extensive collaboration is established with various therapeutic groups in order to ensure the best treatment and rehabilitation.
The aim of this project is to establish a database which contains all patients in the Region of Southern Denmark diagnosed with oral cancer over the last 10 years, the focus will be on the surgical treatment and rehabilitation. Data can be used for research and follow-up on oral cancer patient in the region.

Data is collected from existing local registers and collaborators, the Danish Head and Neck Cancer Group database DAHANCA, FPAS (Funens Patient Administration System and EPJ (Electronic Patient Journal).
