VIDEO CONSULTATIONS IN AMBULANT GERIATRIC MEDICINE - A PILOT AND FEASIBILITY STUDY

Short summary

This study aimes to assess the feasibility of a video consultation app in ambulant geriatric medicine patients and to investigate the experience and perception of patients and health professionals.


Rationale

Video consultation have the potential to spare patients and their relatives for a time-consuming outpatient visit at the hospital. By video consultation the patients and relatives avoid transport from home and to hospital, parking and waiting time at the hospital. It is unknown whether geriatric patients are motivated and capable to use video consultation in their own home. Geriatric patients are characterized by high age, many diseases and most often physical and cognitive impairments. The average age is 84 years. Department of Geriatric Medicine,OUH treats approx. 2000 patients per year, with approx. 500-600 follow-up visits in the ambulatory.

Ambulant Geriatric Medicine Patients


Data and biological material

For patients:

Patient experience questionaire (PEQ) and Semi-structered interview

For health care professionals:

Focus group interview and questionnaire after each video consultation regarding experience, satisfaction and time consumption.
