This study follow children who participated in a randomised trial of BCG at birth for later morbidity in Danish registries.
Studies from low-income countries have found that BCG vaccination is associated with lower mortality not related to the specific protection against tuberculosis. The main purpose of this study is to investigate if BCG vaccination shortly after birth is associated with morbidity among Danish children.
The primary population is 4262 children born 2012-2013 and randomized to BCG vaccination shortly after birth.
We link the data from the original randomized trial with data from Danish registers on morbidity collected in the Danish National Patient Registry and Prescription Registry.
