Use of analgesics and attitudes towards using these medications among patients with osteoarthritis enrolled in GLA:D is currently poorly understood. With this survey-based study, we aim to explore use of analgesics and attitudes towards using these medications among patients newly enrolled in the GLA:D initiative.
In 2012-13, a group of physiotherapists and doctors established a new treatment for patients with knee and hip osteoarthritis: Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark (GLA:D). This included a combination of education and physical training to aid the patients. Since then, GLA:D has been a success with more than 55,500 participants having completed the program and with 89% feeling satisfied with the program after three months. Patients in the GLA:D initiative frequently use analgesics to treat their osteoarthritis; however, it re-mains unknown how these patients use analgesics and what their attitudes towards using analgesics are. With this survey-based study, we aim to explore use of analgesics and attitudes towards using these medications among patients newly enrolled in the GLA:D initiative.
