The West Denmark Heart Database.

Short summary

The West Denmark Heart Database (VDH) is a patient management system designed to collect data on patients and procedures related to invasive cardiology and thoracic surgery across the regions of Southern Denmark, Central Jutland, and Northern Jutland.

Rationale

The West Denmark Heart Database (VDH) is designed to collect data on patients and procedures related to invasive cardiology and thoracic surgery. It is also possible to apply for access to data for research and/or quality improvement projects. In addition to being a patient management system, VDH serves as a data source for the Danish Heart Register (DHR) - the RKKP Quality Database, which is responsible for the national monitoring of treatment quality. However, only a subset of procedures from VDH is automatically transferred to the DHR. Procedures are transferred once all forms for the individual procedures in VDH have been completed and the cardiac care pathways have been closed.

Description of the cohort
