Short summary

The study is designed as a two-year Delphi study including three rounds of questionnaires. The study proceeds through several rounds of answering questionnaires from an expert panel consisting of either nurses and neurologists co-working with nurses at specialized headache centers. Participants are included from Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Estonia and Switzerland.

Rationale

Nurses play an important role in the treatment of migraine patients at the specialized headache centers in Europe, however, a unified definition of nursing tasks and conduction of tasks is lacking. The aim of this e-Delphi study is twofold. Initially, to obtain healthcare professional migraine ex-perts' opinions on which tasks are associated with nursing in migraine treatment. Then, through an iterative multi-staged process, to combine the opinions into group consensus statements and develop evident European nursing recommendations for migraine treatment.

Description of the cohort

Nurses working in specialized headache centers: Eligible nurses will have ≥2 years' experience working with migraine patients, will be working at a specialized headache center, be able to read and write English, and be willing to participate.

Neurologists co-working with nurses at specialized headache centers: Eligible neurologists will have ≥2 years of experience in co-working with nurses at a headache center, be able to read and write English and be willing to participate.

Experts from specialized headache centers in Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Estonia and Switzerland are invited to participate.
