Dementia if often not diagnosed allthough the diagnosis is essential for relevant treatment and care. Therefore, we asses cognition at Preventive Home Visits in order to initiate clinical examination for dementia when relevant.
Dementia affects the physical and mental health of patients and relatives, and people with dementia are increasingly dependent on assistance in activeties of daily living. A diagnosis is essential for treatment and care, but dementia remains undiagnosed in 20-50 % of cases in high income countries. Early detection of dementia is therefore a part of national guidelines in Denmark. Municipalities offer preventive home visits to all people aged 75+ years, but cognition is not assessed systematically. The aim of this study is to assess cognition systematicly at preventive home visits with the Brief Assessment of Cognition Questionnaire. Further we aim to interview participants about their experiences.
Community-dwelling older adults at the ages of 75, 80 and 82+ years. Relatives to the older adults. Employees from the municipalities.
