The goal of the project is to translate and validate the IUGA questionnaire in a sample of Danish urogynecological patients. The study consists of a translation and cultural adaption of the original English IUGA questionnaire and a psychometric evaluation containing a reliability test, factor analysis and a responsiveness test (follow-up after approximately 6 months). IUGAs Translation Protocol is followed throughout.
Sexual health in general and especially pertaining to women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and/or urinary incontinence is still a somewhat taboo topic worldwide. Literature on the topic is lacking in congruency when it comes to measuring sexual function, as most measurement instruments were developed in a mono-cultural setting in North America which limited their generalizability when translated into different languages (International Urogynecological Asssociation (IUGA) translation protocol). With this in mind IUGA devised a new sexual function scale based in a multi-cultural environment and made it available for translation. The aim of the project is to translate and validate the IUGA questionnaire in a sample of Danish gynecological patients with urogenital prolapse so that it may be used in Denmark as well.
Participants are patients who attend the out-patient clinic with pelvic organ prolapse, urinary or fecal incontinens or any combination of these diagnoses. Participants will be included from two out-patient clinics: at Hospital of Southern Jutland and Odense University Hospital.
Our data can be categorized in two sections: questionnaire data and data from the patient journal. Questionnaire data: registered answers to PISQ-IR (translated form), The short form of the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI -20- Dk) and Urinary Incontinence - ICI module (ICIQ- UI - Dk) questionnaires. Patient journal data includes clinical findings, currect diagnoses, medical history.
