To facilitate research in the community pharmacy setting, a qualitative exploration of the attitudes, barriers and facilitators for such research is needed. We aim to explore the attitudes of pharmacy workforce, owners and other stakeholders in the community pharmacy sector toward conducting public health research projects. We aim to conduct interviews with community pharmacy workforce, pharmacy owners and other stakeholders in the community pharmacy sector.
The community pharmacy has a special position in the Danish healthcare system. Daily, the pharmacy staff is in direct contact with citizens - in various stages of health and illness - when they come to the pharmacy to pick up their medication. In this direct meeting with the end user of the medication, a unique opportunity arises to ask and get answers to questions regarding, e.g. drug use, side effects, interactions, etc.
Danish community pharmacies are in contact with approximately 94% of all adult Danes annually, which gives the pharmacy a large and wide contact area , which can be utilized for research purposes. This makes it possible to obtain large amounts of data in a relatively short time - especially when several pharmacies participate in the same research project.
We aim to explore the attitudes of pharmacy workforce, owners and other stakeholders in the community pharmacy sector toward conducting public health research projects.
Community pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, community pharmacy owners and representatives from the Association of Danish Pharmacies, Pharmadanmark - The Association of Professionals in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Danish Association of Pharmaconomists.
