Identification of Prognostics Factors for Treatment Response and the Development of Fibromyalgia in Inflammatory Arthritis.
Short summary
Objective: To investigate if any cluster of specific prognostic factors at baseline is predictive (>90%) for treatment response or development of chronic pain in arthritis patients. Methods: Patients will be evaluated regarding chronic pain, level of education, annual income, smoking status, marital status, level of PA, diet, anxiety, depression, and the tendency of catastrophizing at the time of diagnosis. All baseline factors will be compared to disease activity scores after two years.
Rationale
Rheumatic inflammatory arthritis is affecting approximately 2-2.5 percent of the population in Scandinavian countries including Denmark. The diseases have substantial socioeconomic effects on patients with decreased workability and social functioning. Several factors have been investigated with regards to their prognostic ability for the prediction of treatment response in RA and other inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system. No study has ever investigated if any cluster of potential prognostic factors is highly predictive for treatment response and development of chronic pain conditions. We aim for investigating if any cluster of specific prognostic factors at baseline is highly predictive (>90%) for treatment response, treatment failure, or development of chronic pain in early inflammatory arthritis patients.
Description of the cohort
Inflammatory arthritis patients including Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, and spondylarthritis patients will be included in rheumatology outpatient clinics in the region of southern Denmark.
Data and biological material
Data to be explored include questionnaire data and data from patients' medical journals.
