Short summary

The aim of the project is to shorten the intubation time for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Rationale

Intubation time on the ICU is longer than expected for our patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Therefore we researched alternative methods for anesthesia for patients undergoing cardiac surgery. We desided to introduce Remifentanil in the anesthesia setting in comination with Fentanyl in order to shorten intubation time on the ICU and for a selective group of patients, do the extubation in the OR room.

Description of the cohort

Adult patient > 18 years. Open cardiac surgery on BTY, OUH.
