This review synthesizes qualitative evidence from patients who underwent day surgery, aiming to gain insights into their perspectives. By conducting a thorough search in databases like Pubmed, CINAHL, and Embase using keywords like "Day surgery" and "Qualitative research,". Data extraction will utilize the JBI QARI Data Extraction Tool for Qualitative Research. The synthesis will be guided by Ricoeur's theory of interpretation.
The global expansion of day surgery, driven by advancements in surgical techniques and modern anaesthesia, has been remarkable across various procedures and specialties. Day surgery, along with enhanced recovery programs emphasising early mobilisation, has been effective in reducing infection risks and surgical complications. However, it also places significant demands on patients and their families in terms of self-care and information-management. Understanding how patients experience to undergo day surgery are crucial for establishing a well-structured patient pathway.
