This project will investigate the prevalence of genetic mutations in ocular adnexal BCC and SGC and their relation to histological subtype, location on the upper and lower eyelid, and risk of metastasis in a Danish and Indian population. Furthermore to To investigate the possible association between ocular adnexal BCC and SGC and infection with either HPV or EBV. Lastly to identify large-scale protein changes associated with ocular adnexal BCC and SGC using quantitative proteomics.
Ocular adnexal basal-cell carcinoma (BCC) and sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) wordl-wide displays a vast difference in epidemiology. The underlying cause of the difference in the frequency of SGC between Asians and non-Asians is not known.
25 samples of BCC and 25 SGC from Danish patients and 25 samples of BCC and 25 SGC from Indian patients.
Information from patient charts regarding diagnosis, tumor size, location and treatment among others.
