PEACE: Patient Experience and Cost Efficiency in breast cancer diagnosis

Short summary

The PEACE study assesses how diagnostic tests, time to diagnosis, and private provider use impact patient reported quality of life and satisfaction

Rationale

Aim: This study evaluates whether number of diagnostic tests, time to diagnosis, time to treatment, and the use of private providers are associated with patient-reported quality of life and satisfaction with the diagnostic and treatment processes. Hypothesis: If the quality of clinical mammography is lower when performed by private providers, it may result in additional investigations before treatment, potentially causing delays, decrease patients' quality of life and affect patient satisfaction.

Description of the cohort

Women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer or carcinoma in situ who are referred for treatment in the Central Denmark Region, specifically at the Breast Clinic at Aarhus University Hospital and the Breast Clinic at Viborg Regional Hospital.

Data and biological material

Data from patient registries will be combined with questionnaire data.
