Nationwide patient satisfaction surveys show that patients admitted to the Neurosurgical Department, Odense University Hospital undergoing treatment for a braintumor feel insecure after returning home.
Therefore, the purpose of the study is to identify what makes the patients insecure and improve how patients experience hospitalization.
The project "Getting home and feel good" improve the return process for patients at Neuro-surgical Department, so patients experience control over their own lives and feel safe in their own home after the return.
The aim of the project is to increase patient satisfaction, which can be measured through PRO data, LUP and direct patient feedback. At the same time, improvements can be measured by the number of patients who come back to hospital due to insecurity.
The project's clinical anchoring:
The project is implemented in the Neurosurgery Department U, section U1, Odense University Hospital. The target group for the project is patients with brain cancer who follow a cancer package course.
Departments that form part of the overall patient course are included (Neurological Division N and Oncology Division R). Patients and relatives as well as staff from the primary sector are involved in the creation of dialogue tools.
The patients included in the project have all undergone surgery for a malignant brain tumor.
Patients are admitted to the Neurosurgical Department Section U1, Odense University Hospital and will answer a questionnaire by telephone one week after returning home.
It is expected to include about 60 patients.
Data is obtained using the same questionnaire used in the nationwide patient satisfaction survey. The questionnaire addresses the patient's experiences during the hospitalization and experiences in connection with returning home.
