Patient Related Outcome Measures (PROMs) are increasingly used as outcome measures in Orthopedic Research. More than 20 PROMs relating to ankle pain and disability have been described in the literature. In the recent years, several Danish foot- and ankle PROMs have been translated and validated according to standard protocols. We wanted to compare the measurement properties of the Danish versions of 4 foot and ankle PROMs; Manchester foot and ankle questionnaire (MOXFQ), Self-reported foot and ankle questionnaire (SEFAS), Olerud Molander Ankle Score (OMAS) and the Forgotten Joint Score (FJS). Further, by qualitative interview we wanted to investigate how well the individual PROMs respond and evaluate patients with an ankle-associated fracture.
160 patients with an ankle fracture will be included in the study. The study will be carried out at Orthopedic Departments at Kolding Hospital, Hvidovre Hospital and Odense University Hospital. All adult patients (>18 years of age) with an ankle fracture (DS824, DS825,DS826, DS827, DS828, DS829) will be included in the study. Patients who do not speak, read or understand Danish or with an altered state of conciousness will be excluded from the study.
