This project aims to contribute to the timely and correct detection of mental disorders in older adults by investigating how well the well-established M.I.N.I. and a diagnostic interview that is adapted to cognitive performance and age-related answering tendencies in older adults detect mental disorders in older adults.
The Danish population has a substantial proportion of older adults. This makes the diagnostic detection of mental disorders in older adults an important public health challenge. Timely and correct detection of mental disorders in older adults is crucial for timely and correct allocation of interventions and resources. To date, well-established diagnostic interviews are available that can determine whether a mental disorder is present. However, further information is needed on how well such interviews identify mental disorders in the increasingly important group of older adults. In this project, we will investigate among older adults the reliability, validity, amount of time, and interview acceptance of an established diagnostic interview (the M.I.N.I.) and of an interview, that is adapted to cognitive performance and age-related answering tendencies in older adults.
Adults aged 60 to 70 years in psychiatric care.
