Total Hip Arthroplasty in Teenagers

Short summary

Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) is a rare operation in these young patients, nevertheless the operation is performed on aprox. 10 patients/year in Denmark. And can in principle be performed on either one of the 30 departments that perform arthroplasty surgery. This operation is often performed on patients with other illnesses, so has to be handled in joint ventures with e.g. oncologists, rheumatologists or pediatric orthopedic surgeons.


Rationale

This Is a quality surveillance project looking at the hip survival and the outcome of the operation over time.


Description of the cohort

Patients under the age of 20 years when the first operation is performed.


Data and biological material

Retrospektive Data collected at time of surgery, and at defined time points. Data; Age, sex, earlier surgery, reason for surgery, Looking at patients operated from 1995-2018 and follow them up til revision.
