Restrictive practices (RP) are widely used for specified critical situ-ations in psychiatry in several European countries, including Denmark. Both in Denmark and in other Eu-ropean countries, law regulates the use of RI. Rationale

The main aim of the present project is to investigate which RP and alternatives mental health staff per-ceive as the least intrusive and in doing so, to compare said staff data to a previous study on patients per-ception using the same survey.

Description of the cohort

The staff included in the study will be identified through work email register in the regions. Necessary permissions will be obtained from the Regions. The sample will consist of 2500 staff who meets the above-mentioned criteria from all five regions in Denmark and from wards that uses mentioned restrictive inter-ventions. The sample size is based on the following previous study 20% response rate. Staff are included on the following eligibility criteria: - Resident in Denmark - Mental health inpatient work experience - Clinical experience with restrictive interventions - Current employment at an mental health inpatient facility as nurse, nurse assistant, doctors and other staff groups associated with frequent Daily inpatient contact
