Short summary

Projekt mhp. at afdække forekomsten og typen af transfusionsreaktioner hos børn i behandling for kræft. Projektet skal også gøre os bedre til at detektere og forudse transfusionsreaktioner. Projektet vil, ud over at indeholde en retrospektiv opgørelse, fokusere på udvikling af en algoritme til at detektere transfusionsreaktioner i patientjournaler. Der er tale om et projekt i samarbejde mellem Børne- og Ungeafdelingen, klinisk immunologisk afdeling og afdelingen for blodprøver og biokemi

Rationale

To evaluate the rate of transfusion reactions, reaction types, and associated products in pediatric hematology and oncology patients. To evaluate whether the surveillance systems are affected by underestimation and/or under reporting. To establish the deep learning model to automatically detect symptoms compatible with transfusion reactions on a sentence level enabling the establishment of a decision support tool to visualize the transfusion reaction events to the clinician in the unstructured medical records text.

Description of the cohort

Retrospective, single center review of all transfusions and transfusion reactions reported to the local hemovigilance system in oncology and hematology patients aged ≤ 18 years treated at H.C. Andersen Children's Hospital in Odense from 2013 to 2023
