Translation and cultural adaption of the survey De-stress into Danish - A survey to measure clinicians' Stress, Coping, and Intention to Leave, in Emergency Departments.

Short summary

The translation process was systematically planned and executed using the principles of good practice for the translation and cultural adaptation process for patient-reported outcomes (PRO) guidelines by the ISPOR.The translation and cultural adaption process were successfully conducted. The reconciliation encountered a few conceptual factors that were discussed and harmonized, including the term ED, the organization (Private and public ED), and the use of a supervisor in the ED.

Rationale

Aim: This study aims to translate and culturally adapt the Emergency Department Stress, Coping, and Intention to Leave survey (De-stress) to the Danish emergency context. Background: The emergency department (ED) has a psychologically demanding work environment. Internationally demands on healthcare services, including the number of presentations to EDs, have increased substantially. EDs are facing a staffing crisis, which contributes to a poor working environment and exposure to occupational stressors. Based on these challenges in the healthcare system, the retention of ED clinicians has become a major issue.
