The Impact of Intrapartum Management of Preterm Birth (GA 23-28 Weeks) on Neonatal Outcomes

Short summary

The purpose of this study is to examine intrapartum management, including the significance of fetal presentation, fetal monitoring, and mode of delivery among women giving birth extremely preterm (GA 23-28 weeks). Design Prospective data collection, registry-based data. Research Questions Article 1 Descriptive analysis of the birth processes of extremely preterm infants in Denmark. Rationale

Extremely preterm birth is rare among singleton pregnancies but carries a high risk of severe consequences for the infant and often leads to prolonged and complicated hospital stays in neonatal units. Intrapartum management of extremely preterm births is characterized by a lack of evidence both nationally and internationally. This applies to the choice of fetal monitoring as well as the assessment of the optimal mode of delivery.
