This project aims to translate and validate the GENDER-Q Youth Module for use in Denmark. The GENDER-Q Youth Module is a patient-reported outcome measure specifically designed to assess quality of life and treatment outcomes in transgender and gender-diverse youth. Through a rigorous translation and cultural adaptation process, we will create a Danish version that maintains conceptual equivalence with the original while being culturally appropriate for Danish youth.
Transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) youth face unique challenges that can impact their quality of life. To properly assess treatment outcomes and provide optimal care, clinicians need validated tools in Danish. The GENDER-Q Youth Module is a comprehensive measure covering school life, social relationships, psychological wellbeing, and healthcare experiences. This project will make this important tool available to Danish healthcare providers, enabling better assessment of care outcomes and supporting evidence-based practice.
The project will involve TGD youth (ages 12-25) recruited through gender clinics in Denmark. For cognitive interviews, we will include 5-8 participants per interview round, with two rounds planned. Participants will be native Danish speakers who represent diverse ages and gender identities within the target population. For the field test phase, we aim to recruit a larger sample through participating clinics.
This project involves no biological samples. Data collected will include: Cognitive interview responses regarding questionnaire comprehension Demographic information from participants Questionnaire responses during field testing Translation process documentation Expert panel feedback
