TRAN-op. The effect of topical tranexamic acid on postoperative complications in soft tissue plastic surgery. A multicentre randomized controlled trial.

Short summary

The study is designed as a multicenter randomized controlled trial, with the aim of investigating the effect of local application of tranexamic acid. Patients undergoing plastic surgical procedures (i.e. abdominoplasty, breast reduction etc) may be included. The primary outcome is hematoma/surgical intervention up to 10. postoperative day. The secondary outcomes are: incidence of wound infection, dehiscence, postoperative seroma or thromboembolic events < 30 days postoperatively.


Rationale

The aim is to investigate if of local application of tranexamic acid is beneficial in preventing postoperative hematoma in soft tissue plastic surgery.


Description of the cohort

Patients undergoing plastic surgical procedures ie. abdominoplasty, breast reduction, breast reconstruction, massive weight-loss surgery at the Department of Surgery and Plastic Surgerymay be included.


Data and biological material

Data will be collected from the patient records including data from a study-specific questionnaire.
