Retinal detachment: A clinical, prospective study of patients undergoing surgery for retinal detach
Short summary
The project will provide us with important and updated knowledge on the factors influencing the outcome of the treatment for the severe and frequent eye disease retinal detachment. The PhD project consists of two subprojects: A clinical prospective follow-up and a retrospective follow-up study. Both projects are based on data from Department of Ophthalmology, Odense University Hospital, Odense, Denmark.
Description of the cohort
A clinical prospective long-term follow-up study of patients operated for primary retinal detachment at the Department of Ophthalmology, Odense University Hospital, Odense, Denmark. Ninety-nine patients are participating in the study.
A retrospective chart review of all patients who underwent surgery for RD at the Department of Ophthalmology, Odense University Hospital (OUH) from 1st of January 2010 to 31st of December 2012. The evaluation include around 600-700 patients.
Data and biological material
In the prospective study we conduct clinical eye examinations preoperatively and at 2, 6 and 30-months follow-up. We use the latest technique in retinal photography.
In the retrospective study we conduct chart review of all patients operated for Retinal Detachment (RD) at the Department of Ophthalmology, Odense University Hospital (OUH) in Denmark between 2010 and 2012. Data are entered in a clinical database.
