Validation of Spacelabs 90217A ABPM blood pressure apparatus for pregnant women in regards to AAMI/ESH/ISO Universal

Short summary

Validation of the ambulatory blood pressure monitor (ABPM) Spacelabs 90217A for use in pregnant women with or without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Blood pressure (BP) measurements was recorded in pregnant women at the second (week 14-26) and third trimester (week 27 to birth). Blood pressure measurements from the Spacelabs 90217A ABPM (test device) were compared compared to measurements obtained with a calibrated aneroid sphygmomanometer, Welch Allyn 767, which served as the reference.

Rationale

The study aim is to validate the ambulatory blood pressure monitor (ABPM) Spacelabs 90217A (Spacelabs Medical, Snoqualmie, WA, USA) for use in pregnant women with or without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Description of the cohort

We included 49 pregnant women, of which 18 had a normal pregnancy and 31 were diagnosed with GDM.

The participants were recruited among pregnant women in 2nd and 3rd trimester from the obstetric department and women attending midwife consultations at Hospital of Littlebelt, Kolding, Denmark.
