Evaluation of the effect from new criteria for getting a continuous glucose monitor and/or an insulin pump on glycemic level, quality of life and economy.

Short summary

In the Region of Southern Denmark, new criteria have been introduced for patients with type 1 diabetes regarding treatment with continous glucose monitor (CGM) or insulin pump. To evaluate the effects of this, a yearly questionnaire will be sent to these patients for the next five years. Data for the different outcomes according to the list of aims below wil be extracted from patient records and "Danmarks statistik" and the be analyzed according to the results from the questionnaires.


Rationale

To test if a systematic prioritizing of CGM as first line technology treatment will result in

1. Lower HbA1c (primary endpoint)

2. Less fear of hypoglycemia

3. Less hypoglycemic and diabetic ketoacidotic events

4. Better health and diabetes related QoL

5. A reduction in economic expences related to blood glucose strips and societal perspective


Description of the cohort

All patients with type 1 diabetes in the Region of Southern Denmark registered at an out patient clinic.

Questionnaire data and data extraction from patient records and "Danmarks statistik"
