Predictors of succesful treatment with high flow therapy in infants and young children with respiratory insufficiency.

Short summary

In the fall of 2021 a major epidemic of Respiratory Syncytical Virus lead to hospitalization of many young children in need of respiratory support with either Continuate Positive Airway Pressure ( CPAP) or high flow therapy ( HFT). HFT is regarded a more pleasant treatment, yet not as effective as CPAP. The aim of the study is to investigate predictors of successful treatment with HFT. We conducted a retrospective journal audit of childen treated with CPAP or HFC between august 2021 and Februar

Rationale

To identify predictors of succesful treatment with high flow therapy.

Description of the cohort

children ages 0-5 years with need of respiratory support.
