Investigation of the associations between psychological factors and health-related factors among patients with an ICD

Short summary

We will combine different types of data including survey data and register-based data. We follow patients with an ICD. In some sub-studies we compare these with a matched control group. Our project runs from 2022-2025.

Rationale

Previous studies have investigated the associations between psychological factors and longterm health outcomes in patients with an ICD. However, these studies have been limited by low numbers of participants, short follow-up or high drop-out rates.

Therefore, we aim to investigate how psychological factors (e.g. high level of depression and/or anxiety, psychiatric diagnoses and/or medication use) may impact long-term health outcomes (e.g., ICD-shocks, mortality, use of medication, hospitalization).

Description of the cohort

Patients with an ICD registered in the National Register "the Danish ICD and Pacemaker Register". Further we will include a matched control group.

Data and biological material

Descriptive data, clinical data and data from the national registries.
