The Grindsted inquiry
Short summary
The purpose is to give people living now or earlier in the contaminated area the possibility to express their concerns about health issues and to evaluate whether any symptoms can be connected with exposure to the contamination. All adult citizens in Grindsted are invited to answer a questionnaire on any health-related impact deriving from the contamination in the area. Citizens who experience discomfort are invited to an examination with a medical specialist.
Rationale
A contamination emanating from the former production of medicine at the Grindstedværket, has been discovered in and around Grindsted town. The contamination contains a variety of compounds, which could have health conse-quences for people now living or have been living in the area earlier.
Description of the cohort
All residents in Grindsted town and a 5 km zone around Grindsted town as well as former residents in Grindsted.
Data and biological material
Questionnaire-based data supplemented with data from examinations with a medical specialist.
