Prehospital critical interventions performed in children < 7 years. An investigation into factors influencing mortality and morbidity

Short summary

A retrospective cohort study of the period from October 2007 - December 2020. Data on children < 7 years old from LAS database, The physician manned EMS in Odense, will be paired with data from the danish personal ID number registry and data from the Danish patient registry. Focus will be on critical interventions such as IV cannulae, IO cannulae, intubation and CPR. Statistical analysis will be performed to identify factors influencing mortality and morbidity.


Rationale

The aim of the study, is to identify factors influencing mortality and morbidity in the population of children < 7 years old who are assessed and treated by the physician manned EMS in Odense. Identifying these factors could provide us helpful information needed for prioritising procedures and treatment.


Description of the cohort

Approximately 4000 children < 7 years old who were assessed and treated by the physician manned EMS in Odense in the period from oct. 2007 - dec. 2020.

LAS (LægeAmbulanceSystem): Personal ID number, Date, Age at time, Critical Interventions performed National Patient Registry: Hospital diagnosis, days of hospitalization National CPR Registry: Cause of death
