Database and Biobank for future research in Familiar Hypercholesterolemia at Odense University Hospital

Short summary

The Danish Familial Hypercholesterolemia Organized Coronary Screening trial aim to desbribe the prevalence of asymptomatic coronary atherosclerotic disease in patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia

Rationale

Familial hypercholesterolemia has a prevalence of 1 in 200 persons. The risk of developing cardiovascular diease varies within this group, demanding an optimized risc stratification. Different imaging modalities such as coronary CT and peripheral ultralsound are promising tools for this risc assessment which we aim to describe in this study. Furthermore the study includes this biobank for future genetic research in familial hypercholesterolemia.

Description of the cohort

Patients with Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia genetic verified or Dutch Lipid Clinical Score at 6 or above at inclusion without ischemic heart disease.
