Pregnancy loss: the possible link to selenium status, polycystic ovary syndrome and uterine malformations

Short summary

Pregnancy loss (PL) occurs in one of four pregnancies. Aneuploidy (incorrect chromosome number) constitutes 60% of PLs, and the remaining 40% are euploid (correct chromosome number). Euploid PL is more prevalent in women with recurrent PL, which suggests maternal causes. Nutritional, hormonal, and anatomical factors associate with PL. Selenium (SE) intake may be related directly to PL or indirectly via thyroid status. Furthermore, women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
