Hope in Psychiatry: Research With and About Peer Workers

Short summary

The overall aim of the current resaerch program is to include peer workers as active co-researchers in research about peer support in the mental health services. Within this program, we examine topics related to facilitating consumer recovery and developing recovery-oriented mental healthcare services to better understand mechanisms of change from the peer worker perspective.

Rationale

While we know that peer support facilitate personal recovery for users, we know less about how, why, under which circumstances and for whom peer support is most effective. In this research program, we explore mechanisms of change from the peer worker perspective to generate knowledge about intervention mechanisms.

Description of the cohort

Peer workers are engaged in the project both as participants but also as co-researchers. Peer workers will be recruited from the mental health services in the region of Southern Denmark.
