Breast cancer and heritage study

Short summary

In Vejle, approximately 100 women are diagnosed with increased risk of breast cancer each year. We investigate over time the cohort of women referred to Vejle Hospital regarding risk-reducing breast surgery with a focus on the surgical process in relation to annual clinical mammography control.


Rationale

The main purpose is to investigate the cohort of women referred to Vejle Hospital regarding risk-reducing breast surgery with a focus on the surgical process in relation to annual clinical mammography control. We compare the patients' experience of their body and whether this changes over time. It is also investigated whether family history has an influence on the patient's choice in relation to pure genetic predisposition. We investigate factors that may be due to inequality in society's influence on who chooses control or surgery.
