The Immediate effect of Defocus spectacles On Choroidal Thickness in children. The TIDOCT study.

Short summary

A clinical trial that determines the change in central (subfoveal) choroidal thickness within 60 minutes of removal/resumed use of Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) spectacle lenses in children.

Rationale

An increased thickness of the central (subfoveal) choroid is seen after prolonged use of Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) spectacle lenses. However, it is not known if the use of DIMS spectacle lenses has an immediate (within minutes) effect on the choroidal thickness. The purpose is to examine temporary changes in the subfoveal choroid thickness after removal and after resumed use of DIMS spectacle lenses.

Description of the cohort

Myopic children ≥ 10 years of age using the DIMS spectacle lenses.

Data and biological material

Age, refraction, anatomical measurements of the eye e.g. choroidal thickness.
