The effect of bowel preparation before colonoscopy on bowel ultrasound

Short summary

The purpose of the project is to investigate whether the bowel preparation for colonoscopy affects the parameters used when assessing intestinal inflammation by ultrasound. In the long term, this knowledge could contribute to the introduction of bowel ultrasound on the same day as colonoscopy, and thus reduce the number of hospital visits for our patients.

Rationale

The effect of bowel preparation for colonoscopy on bowel ultrasound is unknown.

Description of the cohort

We aim to recrute 30 patients from Nyborg, Esbjerg and Odense

Data and biological material

Video sequence of bowel ultrasound with measurement of bowel wall thickness corresponding to the colon (sigmoid colon) and the last part of the small intestine. In addition, we will collect data on age, gender and diagnosis.
