The study aims to evaluate the effect of automated versus patient controlled breath-hold in cardiac MRI .
Cardiac MRI is often challenged by respiratory motion and thus, the patient must hold the breath while the image data are acquired. The breath hold can be controlled automatically by an AutoVoice-application in the scanner or by the patient, who by the push of a button signals that he/she is holding the breath. Patient controlled breath hold is technically more complicated and is often used if the patient has trouble holding the breath. The primary purpose of the study is to compare the diagnostic image quality in AutoVoice and Patient controlled breath hold. Furthermore the purpose is to measure examination time and patient reported experience in the two methods.
We plan to include 60 adult consecutive male and female patients referred for cardiac MRI. The patients are recruited shortly before the examination. The study is observational and thus, the patients will be scanned routinely.
The images are subjectively scored by two experienced cardioloigists using a 4-point visual grading scale.
Examination time is registered using the RIS system.
Patient reported outcomes are registered immediately after the examination using a 4-item questionnaire
